PCU Registered Nurse
Overview
- Travel/contract RN position in Burlington, North Carolina
- Night shift: 3x12s, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
- Weekend rotation and holidays as needed
- 13-week contract
- First-time travelers are accepted
Unit
- Cardiac Medical Progressive Care department with 30 private beds
- Rooms are remotely monitored by the Centralized Cardiac Monitoring Department
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Driver's License
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Telemetry monitoring on the unit
- Pre/post cardiac catheterization care
- Peripheral line care and management
- PICC line management
- Management of cardiac drips without titration
- Management of vasoactive drips without titration
- Procedural sedation administration
- Chest tube management (Emerson, Pleur-evac)
- Experience with external CPAP/BiPAP
- Experience with Epic
Preferred
- Previous Charge RN experience
- NIH
- Use of Rapid Response Teams
Clinical Focus
- Cardiac patients, including CHF, ACS, arrhythmias, pre/post cardiac catheterization with and without intervention, rule out MI, syncope, and pacemaker placement
- Secondary focus on respiratory problems such as COPD, pneumonia, and BIPAP
Scheduling
- Staff are scheduled in 6-week periods through a self-assisted schedule
- Scheduling is based on departmental need, patient work intensity, skill mix, and previous assignments
