Float Pool (MS Tele)
Role
Float Pool RN needed to float between MedSurg/Tele and Stepdown.
Location
Uniontown, Pennsylvania

Required Qualifications
- BLS
- ACLS
- NIHSS
- RN license
Unit Details
- Float scope includes MS units, Step-down, IRU (Rehab), and ED holding.
- MedSurg units: 1W MedSurg and 2E MedSurg.
- Stepdown unit: 3W Stepdown.
- MedSurg floating is only to other MedSurg units.
- Stepdown nurses may float to ICU as helping hands.
- MedSurg patients may include remote tele patients, but there are no monitors on the unit.
- Stepdown has tele monitors and nurses must be able to read and interpret strips.
- Stepdown is heavy cardiac and may receive patients downgraded from the ICU.
- MedSurg orientation is 1 shift with a preceptor.
- Stepdown orientation is 2 shifts with a preceptor.
Schedule
- 12-hour shifts
- 36 hours per week
- Days
- Every other weekend
- Every other holiday
Clinical Notes
- MedSurg patients may include post-surgical, ortho, pneumonia, dialysis, palliative care, hospice, end-of-life, and low-volume inpatient chemo.
- Stepdown patients may require titration of Cardizem, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Heparin.
- Stepdown also sees dysrhythmias and CVAs.
- MedSurg may include Bipap, Cpap, and High Flow managed by RT.
- Stepdown may include Bipap, Cpap, and High Flow.
