Telemetry RN
Overview
- Travel/Contract role in Salisbury, North Carolina
- 13-week assignment
- Night shift: 3x12 hours, 18:45–07:15
- 36 hours per week
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate
- First-time travelers accepted
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Telemetry (2 years of experience)
- Telemetry experience within the last year
- IV insertion skills
- Experience with cardiac or critical care drips
- Experience with titratable or cardiac IV medications
- Experience with pre and post procedure cardiac patients and PCI care
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIHSS
Unit Details
- Primary cardiac and stroke unit
- Target ratio: 1:5–6; travelers must be comfortable taking 6 patients
- Fast-paced unit with frequent admissions and discharges
- Float required
- Call required
- Every other weekend required
- No block scheduling
Clinical Focus
- Stable pre/post care for pacemaker implantation, implanted cardioverter/defibrillators, and cardiac catheterization
- Post uncomplicated interventional peripheral vascular procedures and cardiac interventions without sheaths
- Patients may include unstable angina, low-risk chest pain evaluation, CHF, dysrhythmias, all new CVA, and TIA
- Unit uses telemetry, pulse ox, high-flow O2 for stable patients, BiPAP for chronic use only, and non-rebreather mask only if palliative
- Can titrate Cardizem drips
- Unit currently houses COVID-positive patients during surges
Scheduling and Orientation
- Self-scheduling with leadership oversight
- 36 hours of orientation
- Must be available every day during week one for hospital orientation
Additional Notes
- RTO after booking is not allowed
- Navy blue scrubs, white scrubs, or a mix of the two are allowed
- Novant t-shirts are allowed
- Jackets must match uniform material and color
- No crocs with holes
