CVICU / NTICU Registered Nurse

Overview

  • Travel/Contract role in Springfield, Oregon
  • 3x12 Day shift, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM
  • 36 hours per week
  • Start date: ASAP, about 4 weeks from offer
  • Ratios: 1:2
  • Guaranteed hours: 36 per week
  • Locals are not accepted
  • Pending license accepted
  • No on-call
  • Flexible scheduling expected based on unit needs

Float Scope

  • Travelers float between CVICU and NTICU
  • May also float to Telemetry, Acute Care (neurology, Surgical, Ortho/Med), Obs, and ED boarding

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Oregon
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • CVICU experience with at least 1 year of experience
  • CVICU experience within the last year
  • 2 or more completed travel assignments
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross or Military Training Network
  • BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross or Military Training Network
  • NIHSS
  • Experience with Epic
  • Experience with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Experience with multi-system organ failure
  • Experience with thermoregulation: hypothermia/hyperthermia
  • Experience with pre/post cardiac catheterization/intervention
  • Experience with IV insulin protocols
  • Experience with chronic/acute renal failure
  • Experience with arterial line management
  • Experience with blood product administration
  • Experience with central line care/management
  • Experience with PICC line management

Preferred Qualifications

  • TNCC
  • TCAR
  • CCRN
  • CSC
  • SCRN
  • TCRN
  • Would prefer an experienced traveler with 2–3 prior completed assignments

Clinical Focus

  • ICU patient populations include medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma
  • Common diagnoses/procedures include GIB, ETOH withdraw, DKA, Sepsis, Covid, ARDS, CHF, CKD, AKI, Donor, Post cardiac arrest, Psychiatric symptoms, MSOF, CVA, and ICH
  • Unit procedures include chest tubes, central lines, PICCs, bedside tracheostomy, Keo tube placement, IO insertion, codes, massive transfusion team support, backup for Hospital Cardiac Arrest Team, intubation, post-cardiac arrest cooling catheter placement, Nitric Oxide, cardiac cooling pads, and removal of femoral and radial sheaths
  • Skills include dysrhythmia interpretation and management, multi-system organ failure, thermoregulation, pre/post cardiac cath intervention, IV insulin protocols, renal failure care, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line and PICC care, IV starts, continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, procedural sedation administration, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, BiPAP/CPAP support, ventilator and HFNC management, ABG interpretation, suctioning, infection prevention, isolation precautions/PPE, wound vac/drain care, and temp pacers

Pros

Marigold is polite and professional. She goes above and beyond to ensure the contractor is well informed and has everything needed to be successful. She helped me with onboarding and getting used to the timesheet app and she answers my texts promptly, even after hours. She is a great recruiter liason. Gladys was a super helpful with onboarding and Denise will hook you up with benefits with no trouble at all. Great team to work with.

Cons

Onboarding is somewhat tedious, but they do dot every "i" and cross every T.
