Cardiac PCU RN
Overview
- Travel/contract RN role in Seattle, Washington
- Night shift: 4x12 hours, 19:00–7:30
- 26-week contract
- Floating is required
- Every other weekend is required
- Unit does not accept first-time travelers
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Washington
- Cardiac PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
- Cardiac PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
- One completed travel assignment
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association or Heart and Stroke Foundation
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or Heart and Stroke Foundation
- NIHSS
- IV Certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience working with Post-Operative Open Heart patients
- Experience working with Vascular patients
- Experience working with Stroke patients
- Experience with open heart surgery patients
- Experience with groin/radial band management
- IV insertion skills
- Experience with chest tubes and sternal precautions
- Experience with CPAP/BiPAP
- Experience with blood and blood products administration
- Experience with cardioversion and defibrillation
- Experience with Epic
Preferred Qualifications
- VAD experience
- TAVR experience
Clinical Setting
- Cardiac PCU
- Patients include myocardial infarction, rule out MI, primary arrhythmias, pre/post open-heart surgery, vascular surgery, coronary artery disease, heart failure, pre/post cath lab with or without interventions, stroke patients with cardiac involvement, and specialized structural heart support cases such as VAD and TVAR
- Experience with chest tubes and sternal precautions is relevant
- Common care/tasks listed include breathing treatments, chest tube set-up/care, CPAP/BiPap, trach care, sternal precautions, blood/blood products administration, cardioversion/defibrillation, epicardial pacer management, LVAD, open heart 24–28 hours post-op, and tele interpretation/dysrhythmia interpretation and management
Additional Notes
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4 across the board, with up to 1:5 at midnight
- Perm candidates from other Providence facilities outside Swedish may be eligible for a travel contract if separated for at least 3 months
