MedSurg 13 RN (Registered Nurse)
Location
- Oakland, Maryland
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Unit / Department
- Med/Surg
- 32 beds, currently 20 due to staffing
Required Qualifications
- RN license
- BLS required
- NIHSS required for all RNs and LPNs
- Must have EPIC and travel experience
- Unexpired driver’s license must be included with all submittals
Preferred
- ACLS
- PALS
Clinical Details
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: no more than 5
- The unit takes RN and LPNs
- Common patient types include CP, CHF, pneumonia, abdominal pain, pancreatitis, ortho, detox, post-op surgery, pediatric patients
- The unit can take anything except laboring moms and titrating cardiac drips or insulin drips
- RNs are not required to titrate drips
- Tele/monitoring: ICU monitors read and fax to Med/Surg for nurse documentation
- RT equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow
Schedule
- 12-hour night shifts, 6:45–7:15
- Every other weekend required
- Holidays rotate with regular staff
- No call or standby requirement
Floating
- Floating is required
- The unit frequently floats to assist other units as a tasker or extra set of hands
Staffing / Support
- No charge nurse
- House supervisor makes assignments for nurses and aides
- 3 nurse aides per shift
Dress Code
- Any scrubs except camo or orange
Orientation
- 3–5 days of unit training
- Manager review, tour, introductions, policy review, and education department training for MedicTech, pharmacy, and lab

Marigold is polite and professional. She goes above and beyond to ensure the contractor is well informed and has everything needed to be successful. Onboarding is somewhat tedious, but they do dot every "i" and cross every T.
