Description
Respiratory Therapist
Overview
- 13-week contract
- Petersburg, West Virginia
- 12-hour day/night rotating shifts
- 36 hours per week
Department
- Respiratory | RT
Required Qualifications
- BLS (AHA)
- ACLS (AHA)
- PCOT
- 2 years of experience in the specialty
- Must have ventilatory skills
- Must be able to work independently
- CRT is acceptable
Preferred Qualifications
- RRT
- Pediatric experience
Clinical Setting
- Covers inpatient, outpatient, and ED
- Mostly adult patients
- ED may include adults, pediatrics, and neonates
- L&D neonates are seen occasionally
Duties
- Vent management
- ABG draws
- CPAP/BiPAP
- High Flow Nasal Cannula
- Nebs
- MDIs
- Flutter/Airway Clearance
- Nocturnal pulse ox setup
- Blood gases
Scheduling
- Every other weekend
- Holidays as needed
- 2–3 days of department-specific orientation
- First-time travelers accepted
Float / Coverage
- One person is assigned to the ER for a lighter load that day
Additional Notes
- RTs assist with intubation, not independent intubation
- Day shift typically has 2 RTs for inpatient and 1 RT for outpatient
- Night shift typically has 1 inpatient RT
- Future cross-training may include Pulmonary/Cardiac Rehab
- Sleep Lab is a future possibility
