Cardiac Tele
Overview
- Travel/Contract RN role in Salisbury, North Carolina.
- Weekend schedule: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights.
- 12-hour night shifts, 18:45–07:15.
- 36 hours per week.
- 13-week contract.
- First-time travelers are accepted.
- Locals are accepted.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina.
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
- 2 years of experience in Med Surg / Telemetry.
- Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year.
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- NIHSS.
- IV insertion skills.
- Experience with cardiac or critical care drips.
- Experience with titratable or cardiac IV medications.
- Experience with pre and post procedure cardiac patient care.
- Experience with percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) procedures.
- EKG interpretation and testing.
Unit Details
- Primary cardiac and stroke unit.
- Target ratio is 1:5–6, with travelers expected to be comfortable taking 6 patients during surge.
- Fast-paced unit with frequent admissions and discharges.
- Call is required.
- Float is required.
- RTO after booking is not allowed.
- Unit currently houses COVID-positive patients and uses opti-flow and BiPAP.
- High side of the CTU has 23 beds.
Patient Population / Clinical Focus
- Stable pre- and post-care for pacemaker implantation, implanted cardioverter/defibrillators, and cardiac catheterization.
- Post uncomplicated interventional peripheral vascular procedures and cardiac interventions without sheaths.
- Unstable angina, low-risk chest pain evaluation, CHF, dysrhythmias, new CVA, and TIA patients.
- Multiple drips, including Cardizem, Dopamine, and Amiodarone.
Special Equipment
- Telemetry and pulse ox.
- High-flow oxygen for stable patients.
- Non-rebreather mask only if palliative.
- BiPAP only for chronic use; no new BiPAP.
- Blanketrol.
Scheduling / Orientation
- Self-scheduling with leadership oversight.
- Travelers must be available every day during week one for hospital orientation.
