Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New Jersey
- Oncology (2 years of experience)
- Oncology experience within the last year
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association or RQI
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or RQI
- NIHSS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience with Epic

- Every other weekend required

- Floating: may float to other MS/Tele units as needed

Unit Details
- The unit cares for patients receiving chemo, patients with a past or present cancer diagnosis, and inpatient hospice patients requiring general inpatient care
- The unit does not accept patients with infections that may compromise the oncology population, COVID-19, airborne isolation, or peritoneal dialysis patients
- The unit includes 14 private rooms, ceiling lifts, and a negative- or positive-pressure room for infection control
- Provides oncology and medical-surgical care, including care for patients requiring cardiac monitoring
Clinical Skills
- Port access; blood/blood products and coagulation factors; antifungals; antivirals; central-line blood draws; PICC/central/implanted-line care; infusion pumps
- Chemotherapy administration/monitoring, including continuous infusion, IV push, and oral chemo; post-chemo body-fluid handling; cytotoxic-spill management/disposal; abnormal-lab recognition/communication
- Neutropenic precautions; acute tumor lysis syndrome (ATLS); anaphylaxis; extravasation injury; hemorrhage; sepsis; spinal cord compression
- Chest tubes; colostomy/ileostomy care; F/C insertion; dysrhythmia interpretation
- Advance directives, hospice, patient/family education and support, pediatric-team collaboration, withholding/withdrawing treatment
- Symptom management for altered mental status, constipation/diarrhea, dysphagia, edema, nausea/vomiting, neuropathy, neutropenic precautions, acute tumor lysis syndrome, anaphylaxis, extravasation injury, hemorrhage, sepsis, and spinal cord compression
- Medications and pain management including antibiotics, antiemetics, antitumor agents, corticosteroids, hormonal therapy, Neupogen, IV-push narcotics, medication tolerance/dependence assessment, and transdermal patches
- Care coordination, isolation precautions/PPE, telephone triage, and post-surgical care
