Description

Occupational Therapy Meridian Hospital

Role

Occupational Therapist in acute inpatient adult care.

Location

Meridian, Idaho

Contract Length

13 weeks

Required Qualifications

  • BLS certification
  • State license
  • 1 year of acute care experience as a licensed therapist

Preferred / Helpful

  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Previous strong ICU experience if covering ICU

Unit / Setting

  • Department: Occupational Therapy
  • Unit: Occupational Therapy Meridian Hospital
  • Acute inpatient adults
  • Covers all acute care adult population except ICU

Patient Volume

  • 8–10 patients treated per day
  • 5–7 therapists per day

Common Patient Types

  • Neurologic: CVA, MS, Parkinson, Guillain Barre
  • General medical
  • Orthopedic: total joints and fractures
  • Cardiac: pacers
  • Oncology

Duties

  • Evaluate and treat adult acute care patients
  • Provide discharge recommendations
  • Communicate safe mobility plans to the interdisciplinary team

Schedule

  • 4 ten-hour day shifts per week
  • 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM
  • 8-week schedule
  • First week: Monday through Friday, 5 eight-hour shifts for onboarding

Weekend / Holiday Expectations

  • 40% of weekend days, typically every other full weekend
  • Holidays are rarely worked, but may be required if needed

Orientation

  • At least 2 days with an experienced OT preceptor

Additional Notes

  • No COTAs
  • 2 Rehab Aides
  • Any color scrubs or business casual
  • EMR: EPIC
  • Radius rule: candidates must live outside 50 miles from the facility

Pros

Marigold is polite and professional. She goes above and beyond to ensure the contractor is well informed and has everything needed to be successful. She helped me with onboarding and getting used to the timesheet app and she answers my texts promptly, even after hours. She is a great recruiter liason. Gladys was a super helpful with onboarding and Denise will hook you up with benefits with no trouble at all. Great team to work with.

Cons

Onboarding is somewhat tedious, but they do dot every "i" and cross every T.
