RN Wound Care Days
Overview
- Contract RN role in Bangor, Maine.
- Based in a wound care setting with inpatient and outpatient wound/ostomy responsibilities.
- Occasional staffing in the wound center as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Valid RN license in Maine.
- 1 year of wound care experience.
- Wound care experience within the last year.
Preferred Qualifications
- BSN.
- CWOCN/CWS.
- 1–3 years of experience.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and assess wounds and ostomies.
- Perform wound care, including dressing changes and debridement.
- Perform ostomy procedures and provide ostomy care for inpatient and outpatient patients.
- Consult on inpatients for wound/ostomy care and support surfaces as requested by physician or nursing order.
- Serve as a resource/educator for inpatient nursing staff on wound/skin, ostomy, pressure ulcer prevention, and continence issues.
- Educate patients and families in wound/ostomy/skin/incontinence care.
- Maintain clear and accurate documentation of patient care and education.
- Manage incontinence issues in patients with urinary and bowel dysfunction.
- Demonstrate knowledge of wound staging systems.
- Use appropriate resources for patient care.
- Collaborate with center and hospital staff to provide effective care.
- Prioritize patient care effectively and efficiently.
- Follow safety practices, including universal precautions and appropriate use of equipment and supplies.
- Manage outpatient ostomy patient scheduling and clinic visits.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of wound care and ostomy products.
- Perform outpatient wound center documentation and wound care as needed.
- Locate emergency devices and verbalize role during emergency situations.
- Assist with performance improvement activities, departmental organization, supply stocking, committee/projects, and other duties as requested.
- Attend and sign off on minutes from 90% of staff meetings.
