Labor and Delivery
Overview
- Travel/Contract role in Winston Salem, North Carolina.
- 13-week assignment.
- Day shift: 4x12 hours, 6:45 to 19:15.
- 48 hours per week.
- Unit has 21 rooms/beds.
- Ratios are 1:2.
- Travelers will float within Women’s Services.
- Every other weekend is required.
- No block scheduling guaranteed.
- RTO after booking is not allowed; additional RTO or call-offs on unit could lead to cancellation and DNR.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina.
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Labor and Delivery (2 years of experience).
- Labor and Delivery experience within the last year.
- Experience with Epic.
- IV Start and Circulate.
- Experience working with Neonate patients.
- At least 400 births per month required.
- Labor inductions.
- IUFDs.
- Multiple drips (Pitocin, magnesium, insulin).
- Preterm experience.
- Multiple gestations.
- Preeclampsia.
- Postpartum hemorrhages.
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure.
- EFM - Electronic Fetal Monitoring (AWHONN Intermediate).
Unit Details
- 14 weeks and above pregnant patients are seen in triage.
- 20 weeks and above are in L&D.
- Resuscitation is offered at 22 weeks and above.
- Labor and delivery occur in the same suite.
- 3 OR rooms/recovery.
- Special procedures include nitrous oxide and amnio infusions.
- Special equipment includes epidural pumps, PCAs, Alaris pumps, and fluid warmers.
Preferred
- Nitrous oxide.
- Amnio infusions.
Scheduling / Orientation
- EPIC training.
- 2 days on unit and 2 half-days in OR.
Scrubs
- Provided.
