Location

• Oakland, Maryland

Schedule

• 13-week contract
• 12-hour day shifts
• 36 hours per week
• Weekend coverage is every other weekend
• Holiday coverage rotates with regular staff

Unit

• Med/Surg unit
• 32 beds, currently 20 due to staffing
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is no more than 5
• The unit takes RN and LPNs

Required Qualifications

• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS for all RNs and LPNs
• Unexpired driver’s license must be included with all submittals
• Strong MedSurg background due to the variety of patients
• Epic experience
• Travel experience

Preferred Qualifications

• PALS

Clinical Setting

• Common patient types include chest pain, CHF, pneumonia, abdominal pain, pancreatitis, ortho, detox, post-op surgery, and pediatric patients
• The unit does not take laboring moms
• The unit does not titrate cardiac drips or insulin drips
• ICU monitors are used, and the monitors are read by ICU staff who fax results to Med/Surg for nurse documentation
• RT supports CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow

Float / Coverage

• Floating is required
• The unit frequently floats to assist other units as a tasker or extra set of hands

Additional Details

• No call or standby requirement
• Scrubs may be any color except camo or orange
• Manager makes the schedule and may work with block scheduling preferences
• 3 to 5 days of unit training are provided, along with pharmacy and lab training
