Overview

Travel/Contract RN role in Roanoke, Virginia
Night shift: 3x12s, 6:45 PM–7:15 AM
13-week contract
Unit ratio: 1:2
Floating: required within skillset

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Virginia
Neuro ICU (1 year of experience)
Neuro ICU experience within the last year
ACLS issued by American Heart Association
BLS issued by American Heart Association
NIHSS
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
Experience working with Level 2 Trauma patients
Experience in an Acute Care or Teaching Hospital setting
Experience with external ventricular drains (EVD)
Experience with ICP monitoring
Experience with lumbar drains
Experience with post-craniotomy and post-neurosurgery management
Experience with therapeutic hypothermia and Arctic Sun temperature management system
CVA/Acute Stroke management
Experience with continuous IV paralytics and neuromuscular blockade
Experience with Epic

Cardiac monitoring and emergency response
Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
Rapid Response and Code team use
IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
Accessing/managing ports, arterial line management, and PICC line management
Continuous IV paralytics/neuromuscular blockade
Continuous IV sedation
Emergency medications
Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
CVA/Acute Stroke management
External ventricular drain (EVD)
Hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun
ICP monitoring
Lumbar drains
Post Craniotomy
Post Neurosurgery management
BiPAP/CPAP management
Care of ventilated patient
Suctioning (ETT, NT)
Ventilator management

Unit Details

Patient diagnoses: Stroke, Neurosurgery, Neuro specific diagnosis, Complex spine
Special procedures: EVDs, Therapeutic Thermoregulation

Scheduling Notes

Weekend requirement may be every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week block
Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
RTO, block, and special scheduling requests must be included with submission
Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks

Additional Compliance Items

Drivers License/State ID required within 48 hours of signing
E-Verify or attestation required
Background check required
Physical exam within 1 year of start
Fit mask testing within 1 year of start
Negative TB or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
TB questionnaire required
Drug screen within 30 days of start
Measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, and varicella immunity or vaccination documentation required

Marigold is polite and professional. She goes above and beyond to ensure the contractor is well informed and has everything needed to be successful. She helped me with onboarding and getting used to the timesheet app and she answers my texts promptly, even after hours. She is a great recruiter liason. Gladys was a super helpful with onboarding and Denise will hook you up with benefits with no trouble at all. Great team to work with.

Onboarding is somewhat tedious, but they do dot every "i" and cross every T.
