Ultrasound Technologist

Assignment Overview

• Travel assignment
• 13 weeks
• 10-hour night shift
• 40 hours per week
• Guaranteed hours: 72 hours biweekly
• No call
• Overnight schedule: Thursday through Sunday, 7:00 pm to 5:30 am
• Occasionally one night during the week may be needed for vacation and holiday coverage

Required Qualifications

• ARDMS required
• Experience with transplants, dopplers, and renal artery stenosis
• Cannot reside within 50 miles of the facility
• Must be separated from the facility for 6 months if previously worked there as perm or per diem within the last six months

Preferred / Scheduling Notes

• Start date: ASAP, about 4 weeks out
• Orientation is weekly on Mondays, except holidays
• Interview and offer are conducted by the nurse manager
• All requested time off must be submitted at time of submission; no more than 1 week of time off will be approved

Clinical Responsibilities

• Performs a wide range of ultrasound procedures, including abdominal, obstetrical, gynecological, and some vascular exams
• Interacts daily with patients and other medical personnel
• Reviews charts, selects appropriate equipment and transducers, interviews patients, explains procedures, positions patients, and obtains necessary information
• Assists physicians during sterile invasive procedures such as amniocenteses, cyst punctures, thoracenteses, and biopsies
• Views screens, detects pathology and other factors, determines diagnostic images, and records images on PACS
• May provide preliminary interpretation in the daily logbook and may convey preliminary interpretation to the requesting physician after discussion with the radiologist
• May assist other divisions during procedures
• May work outside the Ultrasound Suite in the OR, intensive care units, Emergency Department, and nursing floors using portable ultrasound equipment
• Shares on-call duties with fellow sonographers only after reaching the minimum required expertise as judged by the Ultrasound Manager and physician in charge of Ultrasound
• Serves as a team resource for technical information, training, and guidance
• Performs high-level disinfection of ultrasound intracavitary transducers using systems such as the Trophon EPR system
