Med Surg RN

Location

Petersburg, West Virginia

Role Overview

Med Surg RN on an 18-bed unit
60-bed hospital

Required Qualifications

BLS
At least 1 year of Med Surg experience

Preferred Qualifications

Travel experience preferred

Unit Details

Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6
Common patient types include COPD, CHF, total joints, hysters, and general post-ops
Tele on the unit; SCU RN monitors and reads strips
No drips
RT equipment includes CPAP and BiPAP if established at home

Schedule

12-hour shifts, 7-7
Nights
Every other weekend
Holidays rotate with permanent staff

Charge nurse available for all shifts
House supervisor available
Nurse aide coverage varies by staffing
No call or standby requirement
No floating requirement
Scrub color: no specific requirement
Orientation includes 1 day to get a feel for the unit/requirements, then 2 additional 12-hour shifts

Pros

Marigold is polite and professional. She goes above and beyond to ensure the contractor is well informed and has everything needed to be successful. She helped me with onboarding and getting used to the timesheet app and she answers my texts promptly, even after hours. She is a great recruiter liason. Gladys was a super helpful with onboarding and Denise will hook you up with benefits with no trouble at all. Great team to work with.

Cons

Onboarding is somewhat tedious, but they do dot every "i" and cross every T.
