CVICU Registered Nurse
Role Overview
- Travel/Contract position in Abington, Pennsylvania
- 1:2 patient ratio
- 12-hour day shift, 7:00 AM–7:30 PM
- 36 hours per week
- 13-week contract
- Local candidates accepted
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Pennsylvania
- CVICU (2 years of experience)
- CVICU experience within the last year
- One completed travel assignment
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross or RQI
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross or RQI
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience working with Cardiac Surgery patients
- Experience working with Post Cardiac Cath patients
- Experience with CRRT
- Experience with CVVHD
- Experience with ECMO
- Experience with Impella
- Experience with intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP)
- Experience with swan-ganz catheters
- Experience with temporary pacemakers
- Experience with arterial lines
Preferred
- Teaching hospital experience
- Community hospital experience
Unit Details
- Cardiovascular ICU
- 19 beds
- Average daily census of approximately 15 patients
- Provides immediate post-operative open-heart surgery care and high-acuity cardiac critical care
- Common patient populations include post-operative CABG, valve repair/replacement, aortic aneurysm/dissection, cardiogenic shock, acute myocardial infarction, acute heart failure, respiratory failure, and cardiac arrhythmias
- Cares for patients requiring advanced mechanical circulatory support
- Orientation is approximately 36 hours

- Mechanical ventilators
- Swan-Ganz catheters
- Invasive arterial pressure monitoring
- Temporary pacemakers
- Baxter infusion pumps
- Chest drainage systems
