Role Overview

• Travel/Contract RN in Rockville, Maryland
• 13-week assignment
• Day shift: 5x8 hours, 9:00–17:30
• Locals accepted at the same bill rate
• First-time travelers accepted

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Maryland
• Preoperative experience within the last year
• 1 year of preoperative experience
• BLS issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Experience in an inpatient setting
• IV Therapy and Starting IVs experience

Job Responsibilities

• Complete RN assessments 2–3 days before surgery by phone
• Review medical and surgical history, allergies, and medications
• Provide NPO and medication instructions based on hospital and anesthesia policy
• Contact the surgeon’s office or the patient’s PCP to obtain pre-op requirements
• Review the pre-op History & Physical and determine whether EKG, lab work, or Cardiac Clearance is needed
• Escalate any patient issues to the anesthesia floor runner for recommendation
• Document while speaking on the phone

• Government-issued photo ID is required
• Proof of E-Verify or attestation is required
• A 7-year criminal background check is required
• Transcript/Diploma or Education Verification is required
• Physical exam is required within 1 year of start
• Drug screen is required within 30 days of start
• Flu vaccination documentation is required during flu season
• Fit testing is required for clinical candidates
