Description
Job Summary:
Cardiac Renal Unit Medical Surgical with Telemetry (MS/Tele) registered nurse position located in Evansville, Indiana. This role involves providing high-acuity patient care on a 41-bed unit with a focus on cardiac and telemetry patients. The position offers a night shift schedule with a guaranteed minimum of 36 hours per week, starting on 08/24/2026, and requires strong assessment and critical thinking skills to manage a diverse patient population.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Active compact license, American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS), American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), minimum of 2 years of strong Cardiac/Telemetry experience, at least 1 prior travel assignment, trauma level II experience, recent EPIC charting experience required.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience interpreting 12-lead EKGs (travelers must pass tele test), proficiency in initiating and titrating drips (antiarrhythmics, Heparin, amino acids, etc.), skills in PIV insertion, chest tube/indwelling drain management, CBI, stable drips (Heparin, Lasix, Protonix), antidysrhythmic management (e.g., Cardizem, Tikosyn, Amiodarone), nephrostomy tubes, and strong assessment skills.
- Float: Float within skill set to Deaconess Newburgh (IN) and potentially to Deaconess Henderson (KY); cross-campus float requires 2-hour notice, and mid-shift float within the same campus is possible.
- On Call/Call Back: Not applicable.
- Weekend/Holiday Requirement: Three weekends out of every six-week schedule; every other holiday.
- Interviews: Conducted Monday through Friday via MSP interview.
- Patient Population: High acuity Tele/Medical-Surgical, primarily cardiac patients including Afib with RVR, Afib, flutter, blocks, heart cath without interventions, CHF, COPD, sepsis, BH/CIWA, post-ablations, dialysis.
- Additional Information: The unit has strong team retention with experienced staff. No competing health systems or agency logos on scrubs. The position may require precepting students or new hires. COVID-19 vaccination is not required but subject to change.
