Job Summary
Step Down Unit Nurse in Evansville, Indiana. This temporary assignment involves providing specialized care to post-procedure cardiac and neuro patients in a 19-bed blended unit. The position requires clinical expertise in cardiac and neuro assessments, critical thinking skills, and the ability to work nights.
Job Details
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Current active compact license, AHA Basic Life Support (BLS), AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), a minimum of 5 years of solid stepdown nursing experience with at least 2 years in a recent travel contract, recent Electronic Health Record (EHR) experience (EPIC), and experience in post-cardiac cath care including interpreting tele/12-lead electrocardiograms (ECGs), initiating and titrating drips (including Cardizem, Amio, Cardene, Nitro, Insulin, Heparin), and neuro assessments.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with sepsis care, chest tube management, PIV insertion, and managing complex cardiac and neuro patient populations.
- Float: Float within skill set to Deaconess Newburgh (IN) campus and potential to float to Deaconess Henderson (KY) with minimal notice. Cross-campus float may occur with a 2-hour notice.
- Additional Information: This position involves precepting students and new hires, working at a teaching hospital. No Covid-19 vaccine requirement at this time. The unit supports three weekend rotations in every six-week schedule and every other holiday work.
