Job Summary:
The organization is seeking a Stepdown Cardiac Neuro Nurse in Evansville, Indiana. This position involves working in a stepdown unit with a focus on post-procedure cardiac patients and neuro assessments. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day of employment.

Job Details:

• Location: Evansville, Indiana
• Shift Requirement: 12-hour Nights (6:30 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Duration: 13 weeks, starting 06/22/2026
• Schedule: 36 hours per week, with every other holiday worked
• Required Qualifications: Current active compact license; AHA Basic Life Support (BLS); AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS); NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS); Associate Degree or Certificate; a minimum of 2 solid years of Stepdown experience plus one travel contract or 5 years of solid Stepdown experience if no travel experience. Recent EPIC charting experience required (will include a checkoff class).
• Preferred Qualifications: Strong assessment and critical thinking skills; experience with tele/12-lead EKG interpretation, post heart catheterization care, titration of drips (e.g., Cardizem, Amio, Cardene, Nitro, Insulin, Heparin), sepsis care, chest tubes, PIV insertion; neuro assessments.
• Float: First to float within skillset. Cross-campus float to other units possible with a 2-hour notice. Mid-shift float within the same campus.
• Additional Information: The unit has 19 beds with a mix of Stepdown and Medical Surgical/Telemetry patients; nurse-to-patient ratios vary based on shift; scrub color is navy blue without competing health system logos; covid-19 vaccine is subject to change; may involve precepting students and new hires.
