Description
Job Summary:
Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Medical Surgical with Telemetry in Albemarle, North Carolina. This position involves providing patient care in a 27-bed facility with an average census of 20, focusing on stroke, COPD, chest pain, altered mental status, and gastrointestinal bleed cases. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details:
- Location: Albemarle, North Carolina
- Schedule: Nights shift, 12 hours per shift, every 6 weeks cycle, with a minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Valid BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications; active license to practice as a Registered Nurse; 18 months of MedSurg/Telemetry experience
- Patient Types and Diagnoses: Stroke, COPD, Chest Pain, Altered Mental Status, GI Bleed
- Patient Ratios: RN: 1:5-6, acuity dependent (may increase up to 1:7-8 during surge staffing); LPN: 1:5-6, acuity dependent (may increase up to 1:7-8); CNA: 1:9
- Support Roles: Certified Nursing Assistants can insert foleys and remove IVs for discharge if certified, in addition to vital signs and activities of daily living; Phlebotomy team available 24/7; Telemetry monitoring and tech support available 24/7
- Technology/Equipment: EMR: Epic; IV Pumps: Alaris; Medication Dispensing: Omnicell; Monitors: Philips
- Float: Will be required to float within the region and scope of practice, including facilities within Albemarle, Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division (including those with pediatric units).
- Orientation: Two days departmental orientation, specific to unit and facility
- Additional Information: Travelers will work 75% of holidays; up to 6 days off can be approved (excluding holidays); shift times are 0700-1900 and 1900-0700; parking is free; positive, team-driven unit culture.
