Description
Job Summary:
Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Cardio Thoracic units is needed in Peoria, Illinois. This role involves caring for adult patients with diagnoses such as myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure, atrial fibrillation, COPD, and post-surgical chest tubes. The candidate must have at least two years of experience, hold an active Illinois nursing license or be in the process of obtaining one, and bring their license on the first day of assignment. Candidates are required to have certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) is recommended.
Job Details:
- Required Qualifications: Valid Illinois nursing license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated; active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; 2 years of nursing experience; proficient in EKG interpretation and medication titration; all basic nursing skills.
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM and 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Additional Information:
- Charge nurses are available 24/7 and rarely take patients.
- House supervisor coverage is 24/7.
- Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) provide support on day, evening, and night shifts with ratios of 1:8-9, 1:9-10, and 1:10-12 respectively.
- RNs may be required to troubleshoot CPAP and BiPAP machines if used as part of the patient's home regimen; heated high flow oxygen is used under special circumstances such as COVID-19.
- Telemetry monitors are Phillips brand, and nurses are expected to read and interpret telemetry strips.
- Float to other general medical units may be required.
- Scrubs of any color are permitted, excluding childrens or cartoon prints.
- Orientation typically consists of one shift or part of one, depending on prior experience in an OSF facility.
- The assignment begins on 06/22/2026.
