Job Summary
A Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Urology/Nephrology is needed for a facility in Springfield, Illinois. This role involves providing comprehensive care on a 25-bed Medical Surgical unit with a focus on urology and nephrology patient populations, including kidney transplants, urinary surgeries, and common conditions such as kidney stones and prostate issues. The position offers a night shift schedule and requires a dedicated professional capable of managing complex cases, telemetry, and post-operative care.

- Shift: 3x12 Night shifts, 1845-0715
- Minimum Hours Per Week: 36 hours
- Start Date: 07/27/2026
- Required Qualifications: Illinois Registered Nurse license in active status or in application process, minimum 2 years hospital experience in medical/surgical nursing, BLS certification, experience with Cerner charting system, and experience in telemetry monitoring, post-operative kidney transplant care, and urology procedures.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience in trauma level I or II units, community hospital setting, and prior travel experience.
- Float: Float to other Medical Surgical units within scope may be required.
- Schedule: Night shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Additional Information: The unit predominantly cares for adult patients with a daily census of approximately 23. The care scope includes continuous bladder irrigation, urinary catheter management, chest tubes, Nephrostomy tubes, PICC line management, IV therapy, medication administration such as Heparin, respiratory management including CPAP/BiPAP, and use of emergency response teams. The facility is a Level I trauma center with extensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and more.
- Certifications: BLS required, AHA or Red Cross certifications accepted; RQI cards not accepted.
- Community Hospital Experience: Yes, with trauma level I preferred.
- Travel Experience Required: No
- Additional Requirements: RTO restrictions of no more than 5 days, working 2 major holidays, completing all onboarding modules within specified timelines, and maintaining active licensure.
- Unit Equipment & Procedures: Variety of central and peripheral IV lines, urinary catheters, chest tubes, JP drains, and specialized procedures related to kidney transplants and urology surgeries.
