Description

Job Summary:
Wausau, Wisconsin Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) Oncology Care Unit. This role involves providing specialized nursing care to surgical and medical oncology patients on a MedSurg Oncology unit. Candidates are required to bring their licensure on the first day of assignment.

Job Details:

  • Position: Oncology RN in a MedSurg Oncology Unit with a specialty focus on oncology care.
  • Location: Wausau, WI.
  • Shift: 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
  • Schedule: Minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Certifications: Wisconsin RN License and Basic Life Support (BLS); Chemo certification is mandatory.
  • Experience: At least 2+ years of nursing experience, with 1 year on MedSurg Oncology (MSO) preferred; Oncology experience is required.
  • Education: Associate Degree or Certificate required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Charting: Epic electronic medical record system preferred; previous electronic charting experience required if no Epic experience.
  • Equipment: Rovers for medication scanning and Alaris pumps.
  • Patient Population: Surgical and medical oncology patients; very small cohort receiving chemotherapy.
  • Patient Ratio: Typically 4:1 or 5:1 during day and evening shifts; up to 7:1 on night shift, always with tech support.
  • Float: May be required to float to other units in 4-hour blocks as needed, with responsibilities within scope.
  • Additional Information: Contract duration of 13 weeks; guaranteed 36 hours weekly; low census hours available in hour increments; no on-call duties.
  • Vaccination Policy: Mandatory flu and COVID vaccines; masks required if declining vaccination during flu season.
