Job Summary:
The organization is seeking a Medical Surgical (MS) Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week assignment in Evansville, Indiana. This position involves working on a 41-bed medical-surgical unit with a focus on post-surgical patient care, including complex procedures such as Whipple surgeries, vascular interventions, and cardiology post-procedures. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.

Job Details:

• Location: Evansville, Indiana
• Shift: 12-hour Days, 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM
• Schedule: 36 hours guaranteed per week, with options for 48 hours upon request; every other holiday and three weekends out of six.
• Required Qualifications: Current active compact license; AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification; at least two years of strong Medical-Surgical experience, including trauma level II experience and one travel assignment; recent EPIC Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience; Associate Degree or Certificate.
• Patient Population: Post surgical patients including Whipple procedures, vascular, pre/post heart caths, bariatric, ENT, podiatry, open abdominal surgeries, as well as dementia, altered mental status, detox, fall risks, and thyroid surgeries.
• Skillset: PIV insertion, chest tube and indwelling drain management, CBI, stables drips (heparin, Lasix, Protonix), epidural management, ostomy care, blood product administration, tele-interpretation, wound care (packing, wound vacs, dressing changes), pre/post heart cath procedures, strong assessment and critical thinking skills.
• Additional information: Guaranteed hours are 36 per week, with the option for 48; OT begins after 52 hours on 48-hour contracts. Cross-campus float may be required to Deaconess Newburgh (IN) and Deaconess Henderson (KY) campuses, with a two-hour notice provided. No Covid-19 vaccine is currently required.
• Unit Information: 41 beds with day shift ratios of 1:5-6; unit culture emphasizes teamwork, helpful charge nurses, and an excellent unit environment.
• Scrubs: Navy blue scrubs with no competing health system or agency logos.
