Description

Job Summary:
The position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) in a Step Down Unit located in Kearney, Nebraska. This role involves providing care to adult patients with various diagnoses such as cardiac, vascular, sepsis, stroke, and post-procedural monitoring, including arterial line management and titration of drips such as Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, and others. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day. The shift is 12 hours, with schedules rotating between day and night shifts.

Job Details:

  • Location: Kearney, Nebraska
  • Shift Schedule: 06:30 AM - 06:30 PM / 06:30 PM - 06:30 AM
  • Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license; BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certifications; minimum of 2 years' experience in similar units; competence in arterial line management; experience with EPIC electronic medical record system; drivers license required at submittal and will be used to determine if candidate is outside 50 miles.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Good communication skills; flexibility and willingness to learn; ability to take feedback; experience with high flow oxygen therapy and telemetry monitoring.
  • Float: Float rotation may be required to medical-surgical or ICU units to accommodate acuity needs.
  • Additional Information: Candidate must be flexible, adaptable, and a team player with good communication skills. Will be working with a diverse patient population, primarily Hispanic and Somali. Overhead lifts, portable lifts, vein finders, and bladder scanners are available on the unit. The focus is on patient experience, responsiveness, medication communication, and hospital environment. RTO (Request Time Off) must be requested upfront for 7 or fewer days within the 13-week contract. The hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment.
