Description

Job Summary:
Operating Room (OR) Specialist specializing in open heart procedures is needed in Reston, Virginia. This position involves supporting complex cardiac surgeries, including CABG, MVR, TVR, and AVR procedures, in a dynamic and fast-paced hospital environment. The role requires a proactive, team-oriented approach with a focus on patient safety and efficient surgical operations.

Job Details:

Shift: Days, 8 hours per day, minimum of 40 hours per week
Years of Experience: 1 year required (minimum experience: 0)
Certifications: BLS required; CNOR preferred
Schedule: RN 7:00 am - 4:00 pm Monday-Thursday, RN 7:00 am - 3:00 pm Monday-Friday, CST 7:00 am - 4:00 pm Monday-Thursday, CST 7:00 am - 3:00 pm Monday-Friday
Float Policy: Float to main operating rooms
Qualifications: Teamwork, scrub or circulate procedures, room setup and turnover, handling disposables and instrument sets, sterile technique, central line setup, arterial line setup, Belmont set up and operation, cell saver setup
Unit Specifics:
- Number of beds: 2
- Patient ratios: 1:1
- Equipment: Belmont, ESU, positioning equipment
- Documentation system: Meditech Expanse
- Staffing: Board runner, charge nurse, service line coordinators, ancillary assistance for room turnovers
Procedures Performed: Open heart surgeries including CABG, MVR, TVR, AVR, VATS, vascular procedures
Additional info: Focus on excellent communication skills with patients, provider relations, teamwork, and proactive planning to anticipate potential issues.
