Description
Job Summary:
The organization is seeking an experienced Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse (RN) for a position located in Kearney, Nebraska. This role involves providing specialized care to adult patients with complex conditions such as trauma, cardiac issues, overdose/substance abuse, sepsis, post-stent recovery, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular cases, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress. Candidates must bring their nursing license on the first day of the assignment.
Job Details:
- Location: Kearney, Nebraska
- Shift Schedule: 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM and 6:30 PM to 6:30 AM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license, at least 2 years of ICU experience, certifications including Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS). Candidates should have experience working with electronic charting in the EPIC system.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with patient monitoring and interpretation of monitor strips (GE monitors preferred).
- Schedule: Self-scheduling available for core staff; travelers will be added in. Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed, and schedule sharing or duos are not permitted, except for weekends only if requested.
- Orientation: 1 unit-specific shift prior to assignment.
- Float: Typically to progressive care units (PCU), occasionally medical-surgical units, with patient ratios of approximately 1:4 to 1:5.
- Patient Care: RNs are required to titrate or set rates for cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation. They also troubleshoot respiratory equipment, including vents, Cpap, BiPap, and high-flow devices.
- other Responsibilities: Read and interpret monitor strips, provide patient care for a variety of critically ill adults, and work closely with nurse aides and healthcare support technicians based on census and patient volume.
- Additional Details: RTO requests upfront with seven days or less; no additional RTO will be approved after submission. Minimum holiday requirements include two holidays within the contract timeframe.
- Department: ICU (Intensive Care Unit) with a 33-bed capacity and an average daily census of 16.
