Description
Job Summary:
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) position in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. This role involves providing specialized care to cardiac patients with diagnoses such as Acute Coronary Syndrome, Heart Failure, NSTEMI/STEMI, post-cardiac catheterization, arrhythmia management, and other vascular and cardiac conditions. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details:
- Location: Winston-Salem, North Carolina
- Shift Time: Nights
- Shift Hours: 12 hours per shift
- Minimum Hours Per Week: 36 hours
- Required Qualifications: RN license; BLS certification; ACLS certification; NIHSS certification; 1 year of experience in Cardiology; location in North Carolina; no minimum years of experience specified beyond this; achieved within the last year.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with cardiac rhythm interpretation and post-procedural cardiac care; comfortable titrating medications including Argatroban, Digoxin, Diltiazem, Dobutamine, Dofetilde, Dopamine, Esmolol, Lasix, Insulin, Labetalol, Lidocaine, Milrinone, Nicardipine, Nitroglycerine, Sotalol, Tirofiban.
- Additional Information:
- Support staff includes CNAs assisting with vital signs, blood glucose, safety rounds, and ADLs.
- Involves phlebotomy with peripheral blood draws.
- Nurses are responsible for monitoring and verifying telemetry strips during shifts.
- Technology utilized includes the Epic electronic medical record system, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing system, and Philips monitors.
- The unit has a family-oriented culture with a strong emphasis on teamwork. The facility features free parking and a designated scrubs color of royal blue.
- Support services available 24/7 include RT, hospitalists, and intensivists.
- Float assignments may involve coverage within the cardiology division and general medical-surgical units, including telemetry.
- Orientation includes two days on the departmental unit.
