Job Summary:
Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Post Anesthesia Care ambulatory unit at a healthcare facility in Cambridge, Massachusetts. This position involves providing pre-operative and post-anesthesia care, with the flexibility to float between units as needed. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day of assignment.
Job Details:
- Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts
- Specialty: Post Anesthesia Care Ambulatory Unit
- Schedule: Rotating shift with pre-op shift from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and PACU shift from 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.; on-call shifts are from 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. with weekend on-call approximately every 4 to 5 weeks, from Saturday 7:00 a.m. through Monday 7:00 a.m.
- Required Qualifications: Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications; Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license with active or conditional status verified through NURSYS report within the past 7 days; 2+ years of experience in Pre-Operative and Post-Anesthesia Care Units; valid drivers license matching applicant demographics; documentation of travel experience if applicable; ability to work every other major holiday; ability to work in EPIC electronic medical record system preferred; Flu vaccine required during season.
- Additional Qualifications: Experience in charge capability is highly preferred; previous references from charge nurses, managers, or supervisors in Pre-Op/PACU; valid drivers license with matching demographics; recent NURSYS license verification.
- Certifications: Current AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
- Experience: 2 or more years in Pre-Operative and Post-Anesthesia Care Units.
- Travel & Documentation: Up-to-date resume, drivers license, flu vaccine during flu season, and completed NURSYS license verification submitted with application.
- Unit Specifics: Will rotate between Pre-Op and PACU; required to work every other major holiday; preferred experience with drips and medications including support for PACU pressors like norepinephrine; experience with lines of service including general, gynecology, urology, plastics, orthopedics, vascular, and endoscopy; capable of recovering IR patients after anesthesia.
