Description
Job Summary:
Operating Room (OR) Nurse in Espanola, New Mexico. This position involves providing direct patient care during surgical procedures within a large OR setting. Candidates are required to bring their nursing license on the first day. The role entails floating between departments and local locations within 20 miles as needed, with the schedule starting at 6:30 AM for 8- or 10-hour shifts.
Job Details:
- Provides direct patient care by assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting individual patient needs, actions taken, and patient responses.
- Coordinates patient care through collaboration with the patient/family and healthcare team.
- Initiates, utilizes, and documents appropriate protocols and standards of care.
- Administers medication and treatments as prescribed by physician or standard protocols and documents according to policy.
- Identifies and meets patient and family learning and discharge needs on admission and throughout the episode of care.
- Assumes responsibility for the clinical supervision of LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel.
- Completes patient population/age-specific/procedure and protocol education and competency testing per unit standards.
- Schedule: 1.0 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) working 8- or 10-hour shifts starting at 6:30 AM. Weekends and on-call shifts may be required.
- Required Skills & Experience: Minimum of two (2) years current experience in a large OR; ability to scrub; team player; flexible; accustomed to a fast-paced environment; successfully completed at least one 13-week travel assignment.
- Preferred Skills & Experience: Epic electronic health record experience preferred but not required; can train on-site; orthopedics, ENT, and/or vascular experience a plus.
- Certifications & Licensure: Valid nursing license in the State of New Mexico or a Compact State; BLS certification required; additional certifications such as ACLS and PALS preferred.
