Job Summary:
Operating Room Nurse specializing in Open Heart procedures in Des Moines, Iowa. This position involves circulating and scrub responsibilities within a busy cardiac and vascular operating environment. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.

Job Details:

• Location: Des Moines, Iowa
• Schedule: Days shift, 10 hours per shift, minimum of 40 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Minimum of 24 months current/recent operating room experience, with 80% of experience in Cardiac cases and 20% in General cases; Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience required; circulating/operating room experience required; scrub experience including open heart scrubbing required; active Iowa/IA license or compact/multistate license at the time of submission; BLS (AHA) certification; EPIC electronic medical systems experience within the previous 3 years.
• Preferred Qualifications: Trauma Level I experience highly preferred; trauma level II experience required; previous travel assignment completed within the past 12 months.
• Float: Float rotation may be required.
• Additional Information: Orientation schedule includes approximately 4-5 weeks dedicated to both general and specialized cardiovascular procedures, with a structured progression from circulating to scrubbing in cardiac cases. The unit involves floating across all campuses, including Iowa Methodist and Iowa Lutheran hospitals. The department handles a variety of service lines including Cardiac/ PV, Neuro, ortho (primarily trauma), robotics, gynecology, urology, general surgery, pediatrics, and transplants. Use of advanced equipment such as DaVinci robots, Stealth neuro navigation, Synthes, and Stryker for trauma is standard.
