Job Summary:
This opportunity is for an RN in a Medical Surgical (MS) Specialty Unit located in Peoria, Illinois. The position involves providing patient care in an adult medical specialty setting, requiring candidates to bring their license on the first day. The role supports a 12-hour night shift schedule and offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic acute care environment.

Job Details:

• Location: Peoria, Illinois
• Schedule: 3-12 hour night shifts per week, with a typical shift time of 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, minimum of 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Active Illinois nursing license or confirmation that an application has been initiated, BLS (American Heart Association) certification, and at least 1 year of experience as a registered nurse in an adult medical specialty setting. All certifications, education, and experience must be current.
• Preferred Qualifications: EPIC electronic medical record system experience, travel experience on a medical-surgical floor, and familiarity with a Level I trauma center are considered advantageous.
• Additional Information:
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios vary from 1:4-5 from 07:00 to 23:00 and 1:5-6 from 23:00 to 07:00.
  • RNs are not required to titrate drips, but common titratable/ set rate drips include Heparin and Lasix.
  • A charge nurse is present on each shift, and the charge nurse does not take an assignment.
  • Nurse aides/patient care techs assist with vital signs, accuchecks, bladder scans, and ADLs, with ratios of 1:8-10.
  • Telemetry equipment including Phillips monitors is used, with remote monitoring available.
  • The unit requires a specific orientation of 2-3 shifts.
  • Floating to other acute care medical-surgical areas is required, with rotation through nephrology, neurology, orthopedics, and oncology.
  • Scrubs may be any professional color; visible tattoos and piercings (excluding earrings) are not permitted.
  • No call or standby requirements.
  • The shift notes specify a 12-hour night schedule with variable hours and shifts entered on 8/4/2025.
