Description
Job Summary
The facility is seeking a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registered Nurse (RN) for a shift located in Renton, Washington. This professional will be responsible for providing specialized care to neonatal patients, including premature infants and those with complex conditions, in an acute care setting. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day of employment.
Job Details
- Location: Renton, Washington
- Shift Schedule: Nights, 3-12 hour shifts per week, with shifts from 1900 to 0730, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Valid license to submit, at least 2 years of NICU experience, Certifications in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Basic Life Support (BLS), proficiency with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems, ability to care for gestations down to 32 weeks or greater than 1500 grams, experience with high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), neurally adjusted ventilatory assist (NAVA), conventional vent equipment, and feeding pumps.
- Experience or 'Must have' skills: Ability to manage extremely premature and premature patients, including common diagnoses such as bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD), hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE), feeding intolerance, respiratory support, sepsis/meningitis, Neonatal Opioid Withdrawal Syndrome (NOWS/ESC), Hyperbilirubinemia.
- Responsibilities include titrating drips for blood pressure medications, total parenteral nutrition (TPN) / Dextrose 10% (D10), insulin, and working as charge nurse or house supervisor as needed.
- Equipment & Technologies: HFOV, HFJV, conventional ventilator, CPAP, HFNC, Navy ventilator, and electronic fetal monitoring (EFM).
- Staffing & Orientation: 1-2 shifts of unit-specific orientation; float to pediatric units and behavioral health patients may be required; no nurse aides on unit.
- Additional notes: Neonatologist available 24/7, RN staff read strips, and shift coverage includes potential weekends and holidays based on contract needs. The cancellation policy allows up to 3 shifts per month cancellation.
