Job Summary:
The Oncology Medical Surgical Nurse position is located in Orange, California, within an acute care hospital setting. The role involves providing specialized infusion services, including chemotherapy administration, blood transfusions, IVIG, hydration, and iron therapies. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day. This position offers an opportunity to work in a busy inpatient oncology unit with a focus on patient safety and quality care.
Job Details:
- Location: Orange, California
- Schedule: 4x10-hour days, Monday through Friday, with a minimum of 40 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Valid California license, BLS certification, Chemotherapy (ONS/ONCC) certification, 1-2 years of oncology experience preferred, and 1 year of related experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: 2+ years of oncology experience, experience managing ports, active immunotherapy, chemotherapy, body fluid handling, cytotoxic therapy, outpatient oncology, phlebotomy skills, and recognizing abnormal lab values.
- Additional Information: Must commit to working three of the five specified holidays; candidates with experience in inpatient oncology are preferred. Local candidates under 50 miles are considered for lower billing rates.
- Certifications: BLS, Chemotherapy (ONS/ONCC)
- Special Skills: Accessing/managing ports, administering chemotherapy, handling body fluids, monitoring chemotherapy, managing side effects, recognizing lab abnormalities, and using PPE and isolation precautions.
- Unit Details: Inpatient oncology with a daily census of approximately 85 patients, involving all infusion therapies with a primary focus on oncology-based treatments.
- Submittal Requirements: Provide proof of recent LA fire card, two references covering a one-year period within the last three years, and responses regarding employment history at Providence facilities.
