Description

Job Summary:
The position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Step Down Units at an intermediate care unit located in Wheeling, West Virginia. The RN will be responsible for managing patients with complex conditions such as chest pain, arrhythmias, post-procedure care, and overflow cases requiring intermediate care acuity. Candidates are required to bring their nursing license on the first day of assignment.

Job Details:

  • Location: Wheeling, West Virginia
  • Specialty: Step Down Unit (Intermediate Care Unit)
  • Shift: 12-hour shifts, with shifts starting promptly at 6:45 AM and 6:45 PM, running from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM; self-scheduling is permitted as long as the needs of the unit are met. Staff are allowed four requested days off per month.
  • Certifications: ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), BLS (Basic Life Support), NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
  • Required Qualifications: Candidates must have at least 2 years of relevant experience, hold a valid nursing license (willing to wait if necessary), and possess certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS.
  • Additional Qualifications: RN's must be able to read and interpret their own electrocardiogram strips and titrate drips such as Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Labetolol, Nitro, Heparin, and occasionally Lasix.
  • Float: All staff are required to float as needed into the rotation, including Telemetry or Medical-Surgical units, with ratios up to 1:6, possibly 1:7 in MedSurg (less common).
  • Clinical Skills: Managing respiratory equipment (AirVo high flow oxygen, Respironics BiPap), interpreting strips, and titrating drips.
  • Experience and Licensing: Minimum of 2 years of experience; candidate must be licensed and willing to wait for licensure if necessary.
  • Start Date: 06/22/2026
  • Additional Notes: Flexibility is required to work holidays if needed; however, holiday work is generally covered by permanent staff.
  • Submissions: Must include a copy of the candidate's unexpired driver's license. Licensing hits must be disclosed at the time of submission.
