Job Summary:
The operating room open heart (OR OH) registered nurse (RN) position is based in Saint Louis, Missouri. This role involves providing specialized cardiovascular, thoracic, and vascular surgical patient care within a high-volume, level 1 trauma facility. Candidates are required to bring their nursing license on the first day and must be prepared to work rotating shifts, including call shifts as needed.

Job Details:

• Shift Hours: 12-hour shifts, with rotating start times as needed (typically 3x12s, 1815-0645)
• Minimum Hours Per Week: 36 hours
• Required Qualifications: Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS); Missouri nursing license or valid compact license; minimum of 0 years of experience (no experience required), but 2 years is preferred; experience in cardiac, thoracic, or vascular surgeries is required.
• Preferred Qualifications: BSN preferred.
• Additional Information: First-timers accepted with more than 2 years of experience in a level 1 trauma facility. Flu vaccination required; COVID-19 vaccination not required. Will consider candidates with pending Missouri license at the time of submission.
• Schedule: 3x12-hour shifts per week, with 1-2 weekend call shifts every six weeks; schedule can be adjusted based on unit needs. Holidays as required and discussed in advance.
• Certifications: BLS and ACLS are required prior to start.
• Experience: Two years of surgical experience in cardiac or thoracic procedures; considered for less with higher trauma experience.
• Additional Responsibilities: Scrub and circulate duties required, with primary focus on cardiac, thoracic, vascular surgeries, transplants, and complex procedures. Must have sufficient level 1 trauma experience; ability to float within scope and service lines as needed.
