Job Summary
A registered nurse (RN) specializing in step down or progressive care unit (PCU) located in Omaha, Nebraska. This position involves providing care to adult and geriatric patients with conditions such as cardiac issues, nephrology, strokes, diabetes, and those requiring continuous EEG monitoring. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day and must meet the specified qualifications.
Job Details
- Location: Omaha, Nebraska
- Schedule: 12-hour shift, Days and Nights shifts available, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: RN license, BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association, ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association, NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certification, minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
- Additional Information:
- Unit involves caring for adults and geriatrics with complex conditions such as cardiac, nephrology, strokes, diabetic management, and continuous EEG monitoring.
- RNs are required to titrate drips including Cardizem, beta-blockers, seizure medications.
- Charge nurse duties include taking assignments; nurse aides/PCTs are present on the unit.
- Ratios: 1 charge nurse per shift; 1:4-5 patient ratios; usual duties include hospital charting in EPIC.
- Floating: Medical floors, ICU, or rehab.
- Orientation includes onboarding and 1-2 days of unit-specific training during the first week.
- Shift hours are 0630-1900 and 1830-0700; weekend rotation is every other weekend; holiday rotation occurs every third holiday.
- Additional notes include a fast-paced environment requiring good communication, critical thinking, a positive attitude, and problem-solving skills.
- RTO (Request for Time Off) must be requested upfront (7 days or less per 13-week contract); additional RTOs are not approved.
- Please note that candidates may not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with the organizations affiliates, including CHI and Dignity.
- The hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment.
