Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Nurse in Decatur, Texas. This position involves providing direct patient care on the 4th and 5th floors of the medical-surgical unit, with a focus on telemetry monitoring and acute care procedures. Candidates are required to bring their licenses on the first day of assignment.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Night Shift, Minimum of 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license, ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), BLS (Basic Life Support), and NIHS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certifications; zero years of prior experience required; location in Texas
• Preferred Qualifications: Telemetry experience, med surg experience, cardiac recognition, IV starts, time management skills
• Additional Information:
  • Unit type: Medical Surgical Specialty 4th and 5th floors
  • Patient Ratios: 5:1 on 4th floor, 6:1 on 5th floor
  • Equipment: Remote telemetry, capnography, Alaris IV pumps, glucometers, dynamaps
  • EMR System: Alterra (Allscripts)
  • Dress code: Currently black scrubs, moving to Medical City Blue scrubs
  • Weekend shifts are required; no on-call responsibilities
  • Floating: Mandatory float to inpatient rehab, emergency department, and progressive care unit as needed within skill scope
  • Unit staff includes one charge nurse per floor, RNs, LVNs, PCTs, and unit secretary when grid permits
  • Typical procedures performed: abdominal surgeries, heart caths, orthopedics, trauma repairs, and more
