Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery Nurse in Seattle, Washington. This position involves providing high-quality care in a high-risk, high-volume Labor and Delivery department within a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day. The role includes functions related to Baby Nurse duties during delivery and newborn care until transfer to postpartum.

Job Details:

• Location: Seattle, Washington
• Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week (schedule posted every 6 weeks and to meet unit needs)
• Certifications: Required: Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP); Preferred: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), American Association of Womens Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate
• Years of Experience, Education, and Certification Requirements: 3-5 years of high acuity, high risk experience in Labor and Delivery; current supervisorial references; proof of required certifications with submission; candidates with 3 or more years of high-risk experience will be considered, with a preference for those with 5 years.
• Float: Float: Float rotation may be required, supporting postpartum and antepartum, with potential to float to facilities that care for Mother/Baby.
• Additional Information: Experience with Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) is valued. Candidates must have the ability to circulate and provide newborn care including eyes, thighs, assessment, and administer injections such as Vitamin K. The unit supports diverse patient populations including midwifery clients, private obstetric practices, community clinics, and substance recovery services.
• Unit Details: High Risk/High Volume Labor and Delivery, all types; 4 operating rooms; staffing to follow Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) guidelines.
• Special Procedures/Unit Details: Candidates must function as Baby Nurse during delivery, providing newborn assessments, eyes, thighs, and ensuring the transfer to postpartum.
• Equipment and Skills: Circulate for cesarean sections, provide neonatal care, administer medications like magnesium sulfate, assist with high-risk deliveries, and manage postpartum hemorrhage.
• Requirements: Two references covering one year (six months for CNAs) within the past three years, including charge nurses or lead RNs, during the compliance process prior to start.
• Additional Notes: Candidates must be able to support high acuity, high volume deliveries, and be comfortable working in fast-paced environments.
