Job Summary
Labor and Delivery Nurse in ISSAQUAH, Washington This position involves providing specialized obstetric care in a busy labor and delivery unit. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day to be eligible for this assignment. The role includes attending all deliveries, high-risk deliveries, and supporting various obstetric procedures.
Job Details
- Required Qualifications: Two (2) years of experience in labor and preterm labor, with certifications including Basic Life Support (BLS), Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) Intermediate. A Certified Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred. Valid license and experience with Epic electronic medical records are required.
- Schedule: Nights shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Additional Information: Staffing ratio of 1:1-3; float coverage includes Post-Partum and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) based on skill set. The unit handles 200-300 births per month and attends all deliveries, including high-risk cases, gynecological surgeries, and transitions to nursery.
- Certifications: Valid BLS, FHM, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate, preferred ACLS.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of labor and delivery experience required; travel experience is also required.
- Unit Type: Labor/Preterm labor, OB-GYN, Post-Op, Pre-Op, Low Risk Antepartum, Low Risk Low Dependency (LDS).
- Procedures and Skills: Administration of blood products, anticoagulation therapy, assist with high-risk deliveries, perform C-section circulations, epidural and PCA pump management, wound care, and triage obstetric patients, including proper use of intrauterine pressure catheters and IV medications.
- Support and Patient Care: Attend all deliveries, attend high-risk deliveries, gynecological surgeries, couplet care, and transition nursery. Staffing ratios and float requirements based on skill set and unit needs.
- Travel and Certification References: Candidates must provide two references covering one year (six months for Certified Nursing Assistants) within the last three years during compliance. References may include Charge RNs or Lead staff.
