Description
Job Summary:
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurse in Tacoma, Washington. This position involves providing specialized neonatal care to critically ill newborns in a Level IV NICU setting within a pediatric hospital attached to an adult hospital. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details:
- Location: Tacoma, Washington
- Schedule: Night shifts, with shift times of 1900-0730 or 0700-1930 and a minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Valid Washington state license, Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), minimum of 2 years of experience in Level III-IV NICU
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with surgical patients and Hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE), proficiency with respiratory support for vents (required), trachs, g-tubes, NG/OG tubes, NCPAP, UAC/UVC management, PICC lines, med administration, and care planning
- Additional Information: The NICU is part of a 152-bed childrens hospital with around 50 patients typically. The facility offers private rooms, overflow of Level II nursery beds, and block scheduling may be available but not guaranteed. Floating to the emergency room to act as a sitter may be required rarely. The unit experiences every other weekend rotation, with some occasional back-to-back weekends.
