Job Summary:
The position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) on a Medical Surgical Floor located in Wheeling, West Virginia. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day. This role involves providing patient care in an acute care setting, with specific expertise in managing patients with conditions such as congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cellulitis, and pneumonia. The RN will work 12-hour day shifts, including weekends as scheduled.

• Required Qualifications: Valid BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification, a minimum of 2 years of related experience, and a current license to practice as an RN.
• Additional Information:
  • Unit notes include a 50-mile radius rule for submissions.
  • All candidates must include a copy of their unexpired drivers license and disclose licensing hits at the time of submission.
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio is up to 1:7 with approval; RN must be comfortable with this.
  • Common patient diagnoses include CHF, COPD, cellulitis, cholecystitis, appendicitis, pneumonia, urosepsis, and acute kidney injury.
  • One charge nurse is present on the floor with an assigned team.
  • PCTs (patient care technicians) are available on the unit.
  • No ventilator management, but intermittent BIPAP is used.
  • Remote monitoring via telehealth is in place.
  • Floating requirements are based on census; external travelers are the first to float.
  • Scrub color is navy blue.
  • The contract includes two shifts over a 13-week period, generally scheduled as needed, usually occupying about half of the weekends.
