Job Summary
Dialysis Registered Nurse (RN) Decatur, IL. The organization is seeking a Dialysis RN to provide acute care inpatient dialysis services in an acute care hospital setting. The role includes a Days schedule covering 4x10 shifts (07001730) plus 23 overnight calls, with emergent cases handled on call as needed. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details
- Schedule: Days; 4x10s (07001730) with 23 overnight calls; minimum 40.0 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Active Illinois license required to apply; Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred; Minimum 1 year of experience in acute care inpatient dialysis, including acute renal failure and/or Acute Kidney Injury, Hemodialysis, and peritoneal dialysis; Demonstrated skills include administration of blood/blood products during treatment and administration of Mannitol/albumin/23.4% NaCL; Ability to cannulate AV fistula and AV graft; Demonstrated ability with vascular access and peritoneal catheter-related complications (including vascular access malfunction and peritoneal catheter malfunction); Proficiency with hemodialysis machine alarm troubleshooting procedures including arterial pressure alarm, blood leak detector, conductivity alarm, and venous pressure alarm; Ability to perform required dialysis set-up/initiation tasks including absence of disinfectant in system and catheter setup (tunneled/non-tunneled catheter); Post-dialysis access care; Demonstrated professional knowledge and skills including airway management, blood glucose monitoring, and infection control; Ability to manage symptoms including air emboli, cardiac arrest, chest pain, clotted access/poor blood flow rate, disequilibrium syndrome, filter blood leak, fluid overload, hyperkalemia, hypotension, muscle cramps, pyrogenic reaction, and seizures; Experience with B. Braun Dialog.
- Preferred Qualifications: Cerner experience; teaching hospital and community hospital experience; Trauma Level I and Trauma Level II experience.
- Additional Information:
- On-call coverage is required as needed. Emergent cases only.
- Sundays are closed, with weekend nurse on call.
- Weekend coverage is required every other weekend.
- Daily census is reported as 36 patients; the unit is described as 2 rooms with 4 beds.
- Block scheduling is available; schedule requests should be discussed with the manager.
- Flu vaccination is required (medical/religious exemptions only).
- Submission requires 23 interview times upon submission.
