Job Summary:
Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Step Down or Intermediate Care Units is needed in Wheeling, West Virginia. This position involves providing direct patient care in a 30-bed unit with a mix of private and semi-private rooms. Candidates are required to bring their RN license on the first day of employment.

Job Details:

• Certifications, Education Requirements, Degree Requirements, Location Requirements, and Years of Experience: Valid RN license, ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification, BLS (Basic Life Support) certification, NIH Stroke Scale (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certification, minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, located in West Virginia.
• Schedule: Day shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Float: Float rotation may be required.
• Additional Information: The unit operates under specific patient ratios and admits patients with diagnoses such as chest pain, arrhythmias, post-procedural care, and overflow cases requiring intermediate care. Staff must be flexible with holiday work, which is usually covered by permanent staff. Nurses are expected to read and interpret telemetry strips, titrate drips, and operate respiratory equipment. In-house resources include hospitalists or intensivists 24/7, IV team, pharmacy, and respiratory therapy. Orientation includes a day with HR and on-unit preceptorship.
