Job Summary:
The Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Nurse position is located in Wheeling, West Virginia. This role involves providing post-anesthesia care in inpatient and outpatient recovery areas, as well as in the surgery center and anesthesia clinic. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day of employment. The position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment with a variety of case types and recovery responsibilities.

Job Details:

• Shift: Predominately 3, 12-hour shifts; flexibility for 8 or 10-hour shifts if departmental needs are met. Start times vary.
• Required Qualifications: Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC); minimum of 2 years of recent experience in post-anesthesia or recovery care. Valid license with willingness to wait for licensing hits.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Sunrise electronic medical record system, tele-ventilation management, and recovery of neuro, thoracic, and general cases.
• Float: Float rotation may be required as necessary across inpatient, outpatient, surgery center, and anesthesia clinic units.
• Additional Information:
  • Weekend call is 1, 24-hour shift per month, from 7am to 7am.
  • Weekly call requirement of 2 overnight shifts per month, from 11pm to 7am.
  • Scrubs are provided for all areas except the anesthesia clinic, where staff must provide their own navy blue scrubs.
  • Staff will work into holiday call rotation with permanent staff, covering 24 hours from 7am to 7am during holidays.
  • The recovery area handles a wide range of cases, excluding open-heart surgeries which are transferred to ICU.
