Description

Job Summary:
The organization is seeking a Telemetry Medical Surgical Float Nurse in Waterloo, Iowa. The position involves providing specialized nursing care across multiple units including Medical Surgical, Post-procedural areas, and other related departments. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day of assignment. The role includes floating to various units based on operational needs and requires proficiency with multiple IV drips, EKG/ECG interpretation, and electronic medical records.

Job Details:

  • Location: Waterloo, IA
  • Schedule: 12-hour shifts, minimum of 48 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications:
    • Active Iowa/IA license or compact/multistate license at the time of submission
    • Certifications: ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), BLS (Basic Life Support), De-Escalation Certificate (SAMA, MAB, MOAB, CPI) are preferred; NIH Stroke Scale certificate is a plus
    • 24 months of experience in Progressive Care, Stepdown, Medical Surgical, Telemetry, or a combination of these; first-time travelers accepted with at least 2 years of hospital/medical center experience
    • Skilled in IV drips including heparin, insulin, lasix, amiodarone, diltizem, digoxin
    • Proficiency in reading EKG/ECG and all telemetry-related duties
    • EMR experience with EPIC system
    • Valid drivers license
    • Ability to complete Skills Checklist specific to the discipline listed on the job
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience, comfort, and proficiency with the listed IV drips and rhythm interpretation
  • Float: Float rotation may be required across Med Surg, BH, ED, ICU, and post-procedural areas based on census and staffing requirements
  • Additional Information:
    • Orientation dates are scheduled for 6/29 and 7/13
    • Candidates are expected to work 1-2 of the upcoming summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day)
