Job Summary:
A CVICU Registered Nurse (RN) position is available in the Maryland area. The role involves providing specialized care to cardiac surgery patients, including those post-cardiac bypass, valve procedures, and other cardiovascular interventions. The candidate must bring their license on the first day. The position requires extensive cardiovascular intensive care experience, with a focus on complex patient management.
Job Details:
- Location: Largo, Maryland
- Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Cardiovascular (ICU OH)
- Schedule: 3x12-hour days, from 07:30 to 20:00, with a minimum of 36 hours per week. Every other weekend and holidays as scheduled are required.
- Required Qualifications: Active Maryland RN license, ACLS, BLS certifications, 2+ years of Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) and open heart experience, travel experience, and comfort floating within scope as needed.
- Preferred Qualifications: Charge nurse experience, experience with EMR systems such as Epic, and prior post-cardiac surgery care.
- Patient Demographics: Adults and geriatrics with diagnoses including post-cardiac surgery, acute stroke, arrhythmias, and multisystem organ failure.
- Clinical Responsibilities: Management of arterial lines, chest tubes, ventilated patients, IV sedation, vasopressor and antiarrhythmic drips, ECMO, Impella devices, intra-aortic balloon pump, and use of specialized monitoring equipment such as FloTrac/Vigileo and Swan Ganz.
- Additional Information: The role involves care for high-acuity patients with complex cardiac and vascular conditions, including procedures like TAVR, valve repair, and managing post-operative cardiothoracic patients. Floating within specialty units, sister units, and lower acuity areas is required; flexibility is essential.
