Job Summary
Operating Room (OR) Open Heart Surgical Technologist position in Madison, Wisconsin. The organization seeks highly skilled surgical technologists with expertise in complex cardiac and thoracic surgeries. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in assisting with procedures such as coronary artery bypass graft (CABG), aortic aneurysm repair, heart and lung surgeries, and thoracic robotic procedures. Applicants are required to bring their license on the first day of assignment.

Job Details

  • Shift Hours: 12 hours per shift
  • Minimum Hours Per Week: 36 hours

  • Experience: Two years of scrub experience required in a teaching and level I hospital setting.
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Surgical Technologist (CST), Surgical Tech Program completion.
  • Schedule: 12-hour shifts, minimum 36 hours weekly, starting from July 13, 2026.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid surgical technologist certification or two years of surgical technologist experience; current BLS certification; previous experience in OR settings with complex cardiac and thoracic procedures.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience in teaching hospitals, level I trauma centers, and complex surgical procedures such as transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) and thoracic robotic surgery.
  • Float: Travel nurses and technologists are required to float as needed.
  • Additional Information: Travelers are required to float as needed. Locals are not accepted. Infection control protocols include mandatory flu vaccination, with medical or religious exemptions permitted. Successful completion of a telemetry exam prior to start is required, with two attempts allowed.
  • Notes: Candidates must be comfortable working independently, as they will be scrubbing solo during procedures.
