Job Summary:
Operating Room Open Heart specialist position based in North Dakota. This role involves supporting thoracic and vascular cases, including open hearts such as CABG and valve surgeries. Candidates must be willing to cross-train to general OR procedures and float as needed within the department.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Days shift, 0645-1515, with start at 6 a.m. for open heart case preparation (notified the day before); minimum of 40 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: BLS Certification, Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification via NBSTSA, UAP; 2 years of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience including open hearts, CABG, and valve surgeries; open to cross training into general OR; must be able to first scrub.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with thoracotomies, VATS, Convergent procedures, ECMO, Impella 5.5, robotic cases, and Stryker towers.
• Additional Information: The department maintains a family atmosphere and requires candidates to be willing to work holidays, participate in rotating weekend call every other to every third weekend, and respond to call within 15 minutes. Floating to other OR specialties such as orthopedics or general surgery is required when CV volumes are low; floating to the floor as a 1:1 sitter may also be necessary. Orientation is 4-5 days of unit-based training plus additional buddy call shifts, flexible based on recent heart experience.
